Touring bikes
Touring bikes are a lot like road bikes, but are made for long trips with lots of gear. As such, touring bikes have more relaxed geometries than road bikes, providing a comfier ride and improved handling under heavy load. Since they’re made to help you haul lots of stuff up and down things like the Continental Divide, the Rocky Mountains and the peaks of Ohio, touring bikes have broader gear ranges than many road bikes, as well as wider tires. They also have special gadgets on their frames called braze-ons, which allow you to attach panniers for carrying your stuff.
