Athens Bicycle Says Hello to Spring
The following bike tours,
races and events – some hosted by
Athens Bicycle and some not – take place within an hour’s
drive of Athens. Athens Bicycle staff recommend these events because
we do ‘em every year and we know how fun they are.

Athens Spring
Ride, Nelsonville
Athens Bicycle Club member Tom Wolf organizes this tour that
treats cyclists to scenic routes of varying distances.

Mountwood, Parkersburg, WV
Enjoy some extremely fun singletrack while earning points at
the second race of the West Virginia Mountain Bike Association
Spring
Points Series. There are
categories for everyone – kids, women, men, all ages, etc.

Fix-a-Flat Clinic

Come on down to the shop and watch a demonstration on how to
repair a flat tire. May 14
Athens Bike Rodeo,
Athens Community Center parking lot, 9 a.m.-noon
Local organizations and businesses sponsor this fun event
where kids learn hand signals, learn bike navigation
skills, have their bikes
inspected and can ride
a cool safety course. The first 200 participants will receive
a free bike
helmet.

Hocking
College Spring Bike Tour & Campout, Nelsonville
Ride from Nelsonville to Lake Hope State Park and enjoy a catered
dinner and campout, then ride back to Nelsonville the next day.
This is a
new event for
2005, but Athens Bicycle Club member Tom Wolf helped plan the route
