Race to the Hills is a Hit

Athens Bicycle welcomed 119 racers to Lake Hope State Park on Sunday, Aug.7, for the third annual Race to the Hills. Other sponsors were Athens Bicycle Club, Lake Hope State Park, Pepsi and the Ohio Mountain Bike Championship Series.

More local riders participated this year than ever before. Athens residents and OU students who raced included Jim Schulz, Ellen Gerl, Sydney Schulz, Ryan Curtiss, Jamie Curtiss, A.W. Matters, Aaron Burk, Lindsey Lighthizer, Rich Willy, Elizabeth Boyle, Joey Boyle, Jeremy Krohn, Kelly Shaw and Malcolm Idleman. We also welcomed some West Virginian pals, Paul Broughton and Dave Light.

The weather was great and the trails were fast. Volunteers, namely Tracy
Kitts, Tina Hall, Christina Deshaies, Dave Messina, Kaleb McCutcheon, Aaron
Mather, Sam Khoury, Doug Tully, Mac Stricklen, Chip Krieg, Becky McCutcheon,
Mac McCutcheon, Mike Brown, Kate Erlewine, Peter Kotses and Jennine Schurra,
made everything run like a top.
