Mosey on Down to the Athens Bike Rodeo
Lasso up your little ones and bring them to the Athens Bike Rodeo, a free event that educates the public about bicycle safety and the importance of helmets. The Athens Bike Rodeo will take place on Saturday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Athens Community Center.
At the rodeo, kids have a blast completing the bicycle obstacle course and becoming more confident on their bicycles. Kids have the opportunity to learn bike navigation skills and to have their bikes checked for safety.
This event is open to all children (and children at heart). It is a rain or shine event. Children must be accompanied by adult. Registration is not required to attend, but it is required to win the drawing for a kids bike donated by Athens Bicycle. All elementary-age children in Athens County will receive registration information via the schools.
The Athens Bike Rodeo is sponsored by OU-COM and ComCorps, Athens Bicycle, University Medical Associates, TEAMHealth and O'Bleness Memorial Hospital. Partners include Ohio University's Police Department, Exercise Physiology Club, Family Practice Student Association and WellWorks.
