Athens Bicycle Welcomes Cannondale
Demo Van to Visit Oct. 9-11
Athens Bicycle will soon add Cannondale bikes to its lineup. Cannondale, one of the first bike companies to work with aluminum frame technology, is known for producing cutting-edge, high-performance, top-end bicycles (both road and mountain).
The company started in 1971, when it introduced the cycling industry's first bicycle trailer. In fact, Athens Bicycle owner Peter Kotses spent several of the first years of his life in one of those Cannondale trailers. Many Athenians remember his mom, Grace, carting Pete and his brother Nicholas around the streets of Athens. (Click here for an oldie but goodie -- Nick's on the left, Pete's on the right.)
To start this new relationship off with some fun, we'll host Cannondale's demo van Oct. 9 and 11 in Athens. The van is stocked with road bikes and mountain bikes.
On Tuesday, Oct. 9, the van will be parked here at the shop in Athens. Stop in to check out equipment and quiz Cannondale's demo fleet tech, Eric Saletel, about Cannondale technology.
On Thursday, Oct. 11, the van will be stationed at the Strouds Run State Park beach parking lot from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Cannondale road and mountain bikes will be available for free test rides on pavement and trail.
Athens Bicycle's soon-to-open sister shop, Parkersburg Bicycle, also will be a Cannondale dealer, so on Wednesday, Oct. 10, the van will visit Mountwood Park outside of Parkersburg for another opportunity to test ride Cannondales on pavement and trail. The van will be at the park from 2 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
The River Valley Mountain Bike Association will host a group ride at Mountwood that evening, meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the marina parking lot. If you have never been to Mountwood, this is a great opportunity to test ride high-end bikes while locals introduce you to the trails. And, there are plenty of paved roads at the park to test Cannondale road bikes on as well.
Watch for bikes, clothes and other Cannondale equipment to hit the floor at Athens Bicycle and Parkersburg Bicycle in the coming weeks. Watch www.athensbicycle.com for exact times the demo van will be open for test rides in Athens and Parkersburg.
