Birthdate: 02/03/57
Nickname: Speedy
Resides: Athens, OH
Hometown: Athens, OH (for now - I really don't have
a hometown except where I am!)
Occupation: Rocket Scientist and Associate Dean for
Research & Graduate Studies, Russ College of Engineering & Technology
Category: Old ladies - Vet 35+
Years Racing: ~12
Cycling Goals: Ease back into racing without becoming
overly obsessive, which I tend to do.
Personal Cycling Strengths: Tenacity coupled with moderate
climbing skills
Personal Information/Hobbies: Cycling (road & mtb),
skiing, snowboarding, motorcycling & hiking/backpacking
Favorite Race: Cumberland Classic MTB, Sewanee, TN
Favorite Doughnut: Sour cream heavily frosted!
Likes: Good red wine from Australia and California;
French cheeses; Belgian chocolate and beer, but not
necessarily at the same time.
Dislikes: cycling in cold, wet, or snowy weather! Living
in ABQ turned me into a weather snob, I'm afraid.
Other Information: My job keeps me very busy, which
is good. However, it cuts significantly into my personal
life, the travel requirements in particular, so I'm hoping to carve out enough
time to
train and not embarrass the team when I am able to
show up for a race!
Cycling Career Highlights:
Early 1980s through 1995
Raced
USCF Cat 2 road and NORBA Expert/Elite
1995
US
National Mountain Bike Team. Placed 11th in World Championships, Kirtzarten,
Germany,
September 1995. Retired after that race.
