Working Vacation? Yes We're Coming
When you get invited to a mountain getaway to test out top-end 2012 Trek bikes it doesn't take much time to decide what you are going to do. I extended the invite to my staff and a good-sized crew accompanied me to a Trek VIP Demo event at Douthat State Park in Virginia in late October: Jonny from the Parkersburg shop and Eric, Jarrid and Bryant from the Athens shop.

Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day
Join the River Valley Mountain Bike Association in celebrating Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day on October 22 in Marietta. RVMBA will host young riders ages 4 to 16 for trail rides, prizes and more. The event is part of a nationwide celebration known as Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day, supported by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA).

The River Valley Mountain Bike Association hosts this 45-mile race through the Marietta Unit of the Wayne National Forest. The course features some of the region's most challenging singletrack. The race offers a $500 prize to the overall XXC winner, as well as generous cash prizes for XXC classes. There will be a sweet prize table for XC classes.

Trek World Was a Blast
We just returned from the Trek World dealer show in Madison, Wis., where we had the opportunity to see the 2012 bikes, accessories and clothing. We also had a great time sharing stories and learning from more than 1,000 other Trek dealers from around the world. Not only did we see the new product, we got to put it to the test on demo rides.

It's a Brick ... Lot
Many folks have asked why we didn't just pave our lot last winter. Even though that would have been faster and less expensive, from the start of this project we wanted to create a brick parking lot and we remained committed to do so for several reasons.

Spring Means We're Planting Again
We were lucky to talk Jody Schaub into coming out of retirement to do the landscaping for the new shop as well as the yards at 2 W. Stimson and 2 Cornwell. Winter interrupted our landscape plan, but now Jody is back at it every chance she gets.

Athens Bicycle is now open in its new location just a few steps away from the old shop. Come visit us in our beautiful new building at 4. W. Stimson Ave. The shop has a front entrance on Stimson Ave. and a main entrance at the side of the building, accessible via Cornwell St. There is plenty of parking available in our parking lot, accessible from Cornwell St. Or, park on the street on Stimson Ave.
