I spent the day at a combination collegiate / noncollegiate MTB race near Morgantown, W.V., and this was the awesome scene next to where we parked. A Volvo-load of collegiate male racers rolled in, unpacked, and hit the starting line. This is how their car looked while they raced. Rims, tubes, boxer shorts, a Milwaukee sander/grinder, backpacks, floor pumps, extra bikes, toolboxes, sleeping bags, pillows, tires and clothing everywhere! Fortunately, thievery is not common at MTB races. It was fun to watch these guys race, not to mention everyone else who was out on the course. However, after a season on the bench due to a bun in the oven, I am looking forward to some racing action again next year.

Cannondale Demos This Week!!

Athens Bicycle will soon add Cannondale bikes to its lineup, and to kick off this new relationship we'll host Cannondale's demo van Oct. 9 and 11 in Athens. It also will head to Mountwood Park outside of Parkersburg, W.V., on Oct. 10. The van is stocked with road bikes and mountain bikes available for free test rides.
