A Beauty of a Dropout

This sliding dropout is one way Independent Fabrication is handling single-speed dropouts. I first saw this innovative design on my buddy Buck Keich's bike a couple of summers ago (Buck was SS world champ in 2005, alongside Marla Streb). The sliding dropout is the best way to have a single speed. You can tension the chain, have a quick release, and run disc brakes, and with this particular model (featuring a derailleur hanger), you can even decide to throw in the towel and throw on some gears. Be on the lookout for this beauty on the trail, brought to you by IF and Athens Bicycle.
