This
morning Pete and his buddy Malcolm headed out on a
three-day tour from Athens to Slatyfork, W.V. Pete
packed a B.O.B. trailer on his Indy Fab 29-er and
Malcolm packed panniers on his custom Lynskey touring
frame. They expected to make camp in Spencer (W.V.)
tonight, Summersville
tomorrow night and Slatyfork on Friday night. From
there they planned to split ways. Malcolm has to beat
it back to Athens in a car to attend a wedding on Saturday,
and Pete will journey on via bicycle to Elkins, where
he'll
catch a ride to his ultimate destination:
the Appalachian Classic WVMBA point series race in
Grantsville, W.V., on Sunday. Will each of them make
it to their weekend engagements?
There are many hills, valleys and thunderstorms in
between. Meanwhile, I'm off to Slatyfork via car to
teach a women's mountain bike clinic with Sue Haywood
all weekend. Stay tuned
to find out how it all turns out.
