Today
a group of us bundled up for a mission: to
scout roads for the upcoming Gravel
Rouser Classic. Deep in the hollows roads were
covered with ice and snow, particularly the
ones we were on because we were trying to
hit as many "double dashes" as possible (that's
how barely improved roads appear on the Athens
County road map). Not surprisingly, some
of the steep uphills required walking. The
surprise came when some of the downhills
required it, too, due to sheets of ice. No
major wrecks, just a couple of spills,
lots of cold toes and some ice-crammed fenders.
A sweet winter ride.
