Ironman or Iron City?

|
So the snow is flying outside and you are training for an Ironman. The race is in April and you have to get your miles in now. What do you do? If you are Ohio University student Dave Galli you ride a century indoors on your trainer. A fate worse than death, but wait … Dave’s buddies decided to have a party to help ease the boredom. And there is nothing like a little competition to urge both groups on. Now what I’m about to report is not a Chris Carmichael approved training method (don’t try this outside of a college environment): A select group of six attempted to drink 100 beers before Dave powered through his 100 miles. The results: Dave finished his century in 4:42, melting his tire down to the thread casing in the process. As for the opposing team, all I can say is the university has a long way to go in its alcohol reform policy. The beer drinkers may have won on Friday night but we all know that cycling is the true winner. Good luck in April Dave! Maybe you can schedule a rematch under the hot Arizona sun.
