10/4: Change of plans!!!
Ryan called last night to say
he discovered over the weekend
that his friend Bernie lives
in Olympia, Wash., not Portland,
Ore., so even though he made
it to Portland on Saturday his
journey was not over. Photos

Just
like Lewis said to Clark on
their cross-country trip: "You
can do it, buddy!" Our
friend Ryan Curtiss is bicycling
across the country,
hauling his gear in a B.O.B.
trailer. He left Norfolk, Va.,
on Aug. 8.
