Athens Bicycle racers made the shop proud at the 24 Hours of Big Bear team relay race June 10-11 in West Virginia. Elizabeth Boyle and I were on a women's expert team (Shenandoah Mountain Touring Chicks) that took first place thanks to consistently fast riding by all four ladies and hard work by our volunteer helpers. Here we are on the podium with team-mates Kerry Combs and Cheryl Sornson. Things started off a little dicey, with Elizabeth getting THREE flats and breaking her derailleur on the first lap of the race. But then Cheryl threw down a 1:15 lap and we were on our way out of the hole. Our camp site was incredible, filled with four teams and many helpers. Also lots of visitors who were wondering where the gun show was. Check out the race report and photos.
