This
past weekend was a great one for bicycling
in Athens. Saturday featured the AM Rotary
Club's Quilt Barn Ride, proving once
again that a forecast for 80% chance
of rain is a bunch of hooey. Elizabeth
and I added a bonus loop (with bonus
quilt barns!) to make it an even 100.
We followed that up with a
girls ride on the Thunderbunny Sunday
morning. Now it's time to begin final
preparations for the Race
to the Hills. I'm in need
of volunteers, so if you're not planning
on racing and want to be part of the
action, drop me a line at ridebikes@athensbicycle.com.

12: Wild 100
Slatyfork, W.V.
We love this crazy backcountry scramble, where course length is determined by
your route selection and mapreading skills. Approximate course length is 100K,
but distance sometimes ranges from 55 miles to 85 miles. Rocks,
roots,
scenic
views,
mud
and
big hills are highlights during the event; food and beer are highlights afterward.
