Sunday's Race
to the Hills at
Lake Hope State Park hosted more racers
than ever, with 215 cyclists participating
in a dual-points race that combined
the Ohio Mountain
Bike Championship series and the West
Virginia Mountain Bike Association series.
It was Pennsylvania fast guy TJ Platt
who came out on top, picking Ohioan Dave
Walker's pocket on the last leg of trail.
Fast old man Gunnar Shogren was fourth
overall on a singlespeed, and his fast
old lady smoked the course, placing first
in the expert women's category just a
week after cleaning up at the Wilderness
101. There were lots of Athens Bicycle
team members out
on the course, including Mac
Stricklen,
who placed fourth in the clydesdale category!
UPDATE:
Official results are in. To see how things
shook out, visit the OMBC
Web site to
see the results sorted by Ohio classes,
and visit iplayoutside.com to
see the results sorted by W.V. classes.
Photos should be posted on iplay soon
as well.
Thanks
go out to the racers who drove from
all over the place to get here, and thanks
especially to the volunteers who helped
welcome them.
